The three-year incentive was approved in consideration of the new jobs that will be created as a result of B2S Labs® relocating to Franklin, Indiana.

This type of abatement is possible under a state law aimed at vacant structures like the one into which B2S Labs® plans to invest about $1 million. The historic downtown building at 97 East Monroe Street has been vacant for a couple of years.

Krista Linke, director of Franklin Economic Development Commission, explained in a report to her fellow commissioners that it has taken multiple attempts for the city to find the appropriate fit for the building, which is located across the street from city hall.

“This project is very unique to the city of Franklin,” Linke said. “This is an exceptional opportunity to create the potential for growing this type of industry in Johnson County.”

B2S Labs®, the laboratory division of B2S Life Sciences®, is an applied technology firm that specializes in helping companies develop new biotherapeutic drugs.
